Iphone 3G S vs. Palm Pre?

I don’t own a cellphone yet, but because my friends all have a cell phone, I want to get one! Well my brother has the Iphone but he says it’s pretty expensive but I love that you can have apps and stuff. And Palm Pre is cooler too.

Which one you think will be better?

iPhone 3G S hands down. It’s wayyy easier to navigate than a palm pre and its far less expensive than it used to be.

I own the plam-centri and rally like it. The Iphone is overrated. I am going to get the pre as soon as I can.

well the palm pre has webos. iphone 3gs is hot. palm pre is faster tho but i dont like the palm pre keyboard i like the iphone 3gs keyboard better. i say u should buy iphone 3gs. the nokia n97 is better than both of them.

I had both phones for 2 weeks. I took advantage of the 30 day trials for both phones.

Pros of the Pre over iphone

cheaper per month
multitasking

Pros of Iphone over the Pre:

battery life is far superior on the iPhone
while using the Palm, I was keeping an eye on my battery life every 10 minutes with a charger nearby.
on ebay for the iPhone I can buy a car charger, home charger and USB charger for $7.99 shipped. For the Pre I can buy one in the store for $32. I bought a charger for the pre on ebay for $10 but the model number was for the Palm Treo. doing some searching on the internet I found alot of sellers unloading their palm Treo chargers saying it works for the Pre. Paypal granted me a refund for the Palm charger situation. so, factor in your charger costs in the phone as well. I have one in the car, at work and home for under $10. can’t do that yet with the Pre.
Cost of 2nd Generation iPhone 3G with 8G hard drive: $99
Cost of 1st Generation Palm Pre 3G with 8G hard drive: $299-$100 rebate = $199
easier to plug in the charger on the iPhone vs. the Pre. (internet use on either phone, drains battery life- have to charge every night.)
Iphone’s software is more polished, Palm Pre’s software does work though.
Iphone’s lack of multitasking hasn’t been a problem. The Ipod in the iPhone multitasks with any program. If I close an internet page on the iPhone to make a call, the same internet page is still there when I come back to it.
Iphone has 20 icons to look at, Palm has 12 or 16.
Iphone icon scrolling is from right to left. Palm Pre is more complicated than Iphone it was right to left and also up and down like a Tetris puzzle piece.
Iphone has screen protectors since Iphone has a flat screen.
Palm Pre screen has a curve to it, a decal won’t lay flat on that phone.

If I had the choice to type a fast message over these methods:

a) standard keyboard
b) Blackberry
c) full slideout keyboard
d) iPhone’s touch keyboard

in the first week of use I’d pick a,b or c. after a week’s use on the iPhone, I can type the faster using the iPhone.

Iphone 3GS is what sold me.
