Palm Pre or HTC Hero?

Im going from the samsung alias and i had no problem with that keyboard so im not too worried about the size of the palm pre.

I know there are not many apps for the Palm Pre but the WebOS interface looks amazing

i dont care about cameras, so the fact that the Palm Pre only has a 3mp camera does not bother me at all.

I would go with HTC hero, I believe its cheaper and its much better, and has way more apps. I have had both and the palm felt cheap and could not do much outside of what it shows in the commercials, not many apps and does not have that much power compared to the hero. The only problem I have had with the hero is the battery life, and its a problem that can be corrected. (The HTC stock messaging app for SMS locks the phone dialer, making it not able to sleep. There is a very simple solution in which you just don’t use the SMS app and disable it and download a free open source sms app from the market (app store) if you need help with this if you do in fact get the hero email me). HTC is supposedly working on an update to correct this problem. They both have pretty much the same capabilities internet wise, but the hero can do flash and has multitouch capabilities like the iphone. Thanks!

The HTC Hero versus Palm Pre is a lively discussion. Some people prefer one over the other. I got kind of pumped about the Hero’s spec’s and then went and tried one out in a Sprint store and soon came to realize that I am a guy who really wants a keyboard… BIG TIME.

I’d recommend that you take the guesswork out of the process and go try them out for yourself. That was a major deciding factor for me. For myself: I like the keyboard on the palm pre. I like webOS. It simply handles multitasking better than any other phone out there. The hero can multitask, but not nearly as seamlessly. I like the fact that palm updates the WebOS and the app store frequently (versus others who update something like… ANNUALLY.

Like I’d imagined you did, I searched the forums, read a lot, poured over specs, and thought that I’d made up my mind. Then I went into a store and spent some time trying them both out. I am sold out for the Palm Pre… for me. For another user with different tendencies and preferences, he/she might choose the hero. Ya gotta love America.

Here is the factor that no one is looking at, the hero is comparible the the notoriuos Iphone. Which in turn leads me to belive that the hero will be much like the iphone. In roughly nine months they will put out a newer version “better” version of the hero. And in another year yet another new hero.

When you look at the seamlesness of the pre means that alot of time was put into the production. Yes, the hero has thousands off apps, but I have had my pre for a little over a week and and started with only 25 apps. Now, I have something like 257 apps.

So, if you are willing to wait for the apps to come out of beta(testing phase) then the pre is an all around better phone. The interface, user friendly, and now have the ability to download a touchscreen keyboard. Best of both worlds!!
