I’m thinking of getting a palm Pre and I’m wondering if it will be like the iPhone in the future since the Palm App Catalog on like 30 applications or so. It doesn’t take video and does not have an on-screen keyboard. But do you think that in the coming months all that will be possible through firmware updates and such. I’m thinking of getting a Palm Pre so I’d like to know all this. And will there ever be several thousand apps, perhaps tens-of-thousands like the Apple App store? Because 30 apps competing against 50,000 is kind of a joke

The several thousand apps that the Apple store boasts are not all real apps. They allow themes into it. They also have their “I’m Rich” “app” which for about $1000 will display “I’m Rich” on your screen. And of course there are the dozens of **** sound makers, gun sound makers and…
The Palm is as far as i can tell aiming slightly more for the professional market. So I suspect it will have some of the fun apps described above as well as things that are useful.
You may want to give the G1 a look. It’s got a ton of apps, a soft keyboard and tons of apps.
